Exodus 11
And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants and in the sight of the people.
Exodus 11:3
Moses was viewed by the Egyptians very favorably, and this might be surprising considering that Moses and God are working together and bringing the plagues to the Egyptian people. But it also makes sense, because when we see God in people, when we see the Holy Spirit in somebody, it is very attractive and very moving. That is the most powerful way that I know of for people to come to God. The Lord makes His presence known in people through the Holy Spirit so that we may come to Him. It is easier for us to relate to another human than it is for us to relate to an invisible, holy, perfect, and righteous God. But when we see the remnants of God in someone, when we see their humility, their compassion, their faith, these remnants of the Lord in that person are attractive to us and we start asking why. This is exactly what is happening with Moses. The Lord is using Moses to reach people, and the Lord's promise that He will be with Moses is very clear. God is in Moses, and that is what helps him, keeps him safe, and gives him favor in the sight of other people.
If we want to be people who make disciples, who bring people to Christ, who show people that a faithful life is the only true life, then the most effective way to do that is through the Holy Spirit working in us. Through our own humility and obedience to the Lord, it becomes evident to the people around us, and that is the most powerful witnessing tool that we have.
My prayer is that God will use me for His purposes.
