Exodus 28
You shall speak to all the skillful, whom I have filled with a spirit of skill, that they make Aaron's garments to consecrate him for my priesthood.
Exodus 28:3
Each believer is filled with a spirit of skill that can be used for many different purposes. The skills are different, the outcomes are different, but all of them can be used to further God and His kingdom. We see here that something seemingly unrelated, such as someone who is skillful in making clothes, uses their God-given skill to make the garments for Aaron. As we read later in Exodus, the garments are necessary for Aaron to wear in the presence of God. If he does not wear them, the consequence is death, because Aaron has to come into God's holy presence in the proper clothing that God wants him to be in. As we approach God today, we have to approach Him in a way that we are cleansed, coming and showing Him our best. The person who is skillful in making clothes has the gift that is able to meet Aaron's needs, making him fit for the priesthood.
It stands out that this gift may not seem to further God's kingdom, but indeed it does. No matter what our gift is, no matter how seemingly small or unimportant, our gifts can always be used to further God's kingdom. Something else that stands out is that when Aaron as a priest comes to the Lord, he is carrying the burden of many people. But we are so blessed today that Jesus Christ died on the cross so that we can have a direct relationship with God. This is not something to be taken lightly. It should be taken with great respect and honor, and we should cherish the closeness we have with Him.
When I do my morning prayers on my walk, I like to start with singing worship songs because it is a way for me to calm my mind and come into the presence of God with ease, joy, honor, and devotion. When it comes to using my skill to further God's kingdom, that is something I am still working on, but I want to take small steps towards it by sharing my faith and looking for opportunities to use what I have and what I can do to further His kingdom.
